During Conroe ISD's board meeting Tuesday evening several individuals were recognized, and updates on major construction projects were announced.

1. Four new principals were named:

  • Laura Quinones, former Patterson Elementary School assistant principal, was named Anderson Elementary School principal.

  • Natalie Buckley, former Birnham Woods Elementary School assistant principal, was named Birnham Woods Elementary School principal.

  • Amber DeBeaumont, former Bozman Intermediate School assistant principal, was named Bozman Intermediate School principal.

  • Charita Smith, former Ford Elementary School assistant principal, was named Travis Intermediate School principal.


2. Construction updates were announced:

  • The College Park High School Robotics Lab project has been delayed a few days due to rain. However, the sun has dried things out, and workers can begin furnishing the building soon, said Easy Foster, CISD director of planning and construction.

  • The slab for Knox Junior High School's 10 classroom additions has been poured.

  • Bradley Elementary School and Grand Oaks High School are on track to open in August 2017 and August 2018, respectively.

  • The board approved a guaranteed maximum price of $25.4 million for a new intermediate school to be built in the Oak Ridge feeder zone.


3. The Woodlands High School girls swim team was recognized for becoming UIL Class 6A state champions. The team was also recognized as state champions in the following individual events:

  • 200-yard medley relay

  • 400-yard freestyle relay

  • 50-yard freestyle
