Management for the restaurant TRIS in The Woodlands announced its permanent closure on Jan. 2.

Located on The Woodlands Waterway, TRIS was named after Executive Chef Austin Simmons' daughter, he told Community Impact in 2019. TRIS was known for its steak and seafood dishes among other selections.

TRIS officials announced the closure on the business' website and social media accounts.

"With a heavy heart, TRIS, the acclaimed culinary destination in The Woodlands, announces its permanent closure following the resignation of Executive Chef Austin Simmons," the statement reads. "After more than a decade of delivering exceptional dining experiences and forging deep connections with the community, TRIS will close its doors effective immediately. While TRIS closes, we encourage our patrons to continue enjoying the flavors and hospitality at The Kitchen and Black Walnut Cafe, two other beloved establishments in The Woodlands, Texas that embody the same commitment to quality and community. TRIS’s closure is also a moment to honor the dedicated staff, local partners, and loyal patrons who have been instrumental in the restaurant’s success. The TRIS team extends its heartfelt gratitude for the community’s unwavering support and patronage."
