Since opening in The Woodlands in 1994, the Cajun fried turkey sandwich at Honey Bee Ham & Deli has continued to be a local favorite, owner Lisa Matthys said.
“The Cajun fried turkey sandwich is really popular because it’s not terribly spicy, but it has a great flavor,” Matthys said. “I think what makes it special is that we roast it in the oven and then pull the meat off the bone by hand, so it’s the real thing.”
Matthys said the sandwich, which sells for $7.49, can be served on five types of bread with a variety of toppings. The Cajun fried turkey is also available on a salad for $7.49, in a stuffed baked potato for $7.49 or as a whole 10-pound turkey for $55.
Matthys said the restaurant goes through two to three turkeys each week. The deli also offers gourmet burgers, housemade soups that change daily, wraps, spiral sliced honey glazed hams, desserts and a wide range of side dishes.
