Montgomery County recorded its largest single-day increase in new COVID-19 cases June 12, including 48 new active cases since June 11, according to the county public health district and office of emergency management.

The county's total case count now sits at 1,258, an increase of 61 since yesterday. Thirteen new recoveries were also reported.

The county's seven-day average of new COVID-19 cases reached its highest point yet June 12, surpassing the previous high set April 28. More than 15% of the county's total cases were added this week, as the number of active cases grew by 37 and recoveries increased by 153 since June 5. Four deaths related to COVID-19 were also recorded this week.


Montgomery County's overall hospitalization rate, or the number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients divided by the number of active cases, decreased June 12 to 2.09%. That figure represents the lowest COVID-19 hospitalization rate recorded in the county this year.
