Although Greater Houston and the surrounding areas affected by Hurricane Harvey will need long-term help from volunteers over the next several months, here are a few ways to help in the community during Labor Day Weekend:

1. Buzzles Shaved Ice in Tomball will be hosting a Hurricane Harvey relief fundraiser  Sunday, Sept. 3. All sales and tips made to Buzzles will go to the Red Cross. The business will also be accepting donations, such as toiletries and nonperishable food, for local food banks and shelters. 425 W. Main St, Tomball. 832-276-4603.

2. As volunteers gather to help local victims salvage their homes, donations are being accepted at Houston Northwest Church Sept. 1-3 for nonperishable food items, paper towels, toilet paper, baby products, cleaning products, cleaning tools, trash bags, medical supplies, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, gift cards and cash donations. www.welovehou.com

3. Volunteers age 16 years old and older can volunteer for Interfaith of The Woodlands this weekend at distribution center Falcon Steel America, 3575 Pollok Drive, Conroe. Volunteers are needed to help sort donations in three-hour shift increments. 281-367-1230. www.woodlandsinterfaith.org

4. Magnolia Cowboy Church, 23245 Glenmont Estates Blvd., Magnolia, will be taking donations and volunteers this weekend. Volunteers will help receive and sort the items. Items needed include bleach, cleaning chemicals, gloves, brooms, mops, masks, dustpans, cleaning rags, box fans and oscillating fans, laundry detergent, boxes, tubs with lids, packing tape, duct tape and school supplies. 6. Robard’s Steakhouse, 2301 N. Millbend Drive, The Woodlands, will join forces with the Montgomery County Animal Shelter from 4-8 p.m., Sept. 1 to raise money for pet-related Hurricane Harvey relief.
