The implosion of an 11-story office building at 1200 Timberloch Place in The Woodlands’ Town Center will take place Sunday, according to Montgomery County officials.
Before dawn on Sunday, barricades will be placed in the area surrounding Timberloch Tower, and a security perimeter will be established around the site. The designated safety zone will be approximately 650 feet in all directions, but it will not affect major roadways, such as Woodlands Parkway or I-45.
However, portions of Timberloch Place and Woodloch Forest Drive will be closed to traffic and pedestrians during the implosion as well as pathways and a portion of The Woodlands Waterway inside the safety perimeter, according to the fire marshal's office.
The implosion, which is scheduled for sunrise Sunday morning, will last about 12 seconds, according to county officials. Precautions are in place to limit dust and debris, and the perimeter should be cleared and all roads reopened within two hours.
There are no designated public viewing areas for the implosion since it is surrounded by private property, and visibility will be limited due to nearby buildings and trees. Vehicles will not be allowed to park or stop on public roadways, such as I-45 and feeder roads, to view the implosion, according to the fire marshal's office.
