Here are 3 things to know before The Woodlands Township board of directors meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday. Additionally, a planning workshop originally scheduled for prior to the meeting has been cancelled and will be rescheduled in February.

1. The township board will hear an update on the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church expansion project, primarily in regard to a request to plant trees in a drainage easement. Late last summer the board first heard from nearby residents concerned about noise, light and removal of trees because of the project and has since heard several updates at other board meetings. Although there was a request made to the municipal utility district to plant trees in a drainage easement adjacent to the church property, it will not be allowed. A representative from the Development Standards Committee will present more details during a briefing at the meeting.

2. Plans for the renovations to Northshore Park continue to move forward as the township will consider awarding a bid for playground equipment during the meeting. There is $200,000 allocated in the budget for playground replacement and improvements at the park, which is part of a larger renovation project. The playground equipment was last updated in 2005, according to the township. Seven proposals were received, and costs range from $182,246-$197,000.

3. An item to award a bid for a new connector pathway at the Gosling sports complex, which came online in mid-2016, is also on the consent agenda. Originally cut from the sports complex project was a connector pathway from the current pathway on the west side of Gosling Road to the internal park pathway system. This pathway was listed in the township’s bike and pedestrian master plan to gain access to the park and the nearby Park & Ride facility. The board will consider awarding the bid to MoBill Contractors Inc. with a total budget of $124,190.
