More than 15 million Texas residents registered to vote this election, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s office, a record figure and a 5 percent increase from the primaries earlier this year. In total, about 78 percent of voting-age Texas can vote between now and Nov. 8, Election Day.

Many of those voters wasted no time casting ballots, participating Monday in the first day of early voting, which runs through Nov. 4. Montgomery County alone received 12,461 early votes with an additional 7,952 mail-in ballots and 19 limited ballots for a total of 20,432.
