The city of Oak Ridge North will address a recent petition from citizens requesting to rezone houses on Robinson Road at an Aug. 1 Planning and Zoning meeting. City manager Vicky Rudy said citizens of Oak Ridge North have petitioned to rezone properties on Robinson Road to commercial zoning as a result of possible Robinson Road construction in the future. Rudy said members of the Planning and Zoning Committee will hear residents speak at the Aug. 1 meeting and will discuss possible outcomes. “The P&Z [committee] will evaluate and discuss,” Rudy said. “If it goes through, there’s going to be a whole long process. I suspect the P&Z will review the petition and see what the zone would look like. They will discuss with residents themselves and then bring the matter to City Council.” Rudy said the planning and zoning committee would also have to determine how to protect the residential area and make sure it is not in conflict with the commercial zone. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the Oak Ridge North City Hall.
