The Woodlands Township announced the opening of a bird blind in the George Mitchell Nature Preserve in a news release Jan. 31, providing a space for residents to view wildlife like birds in the area.

What you need to know

Construction of the bird blind, named "The Lookout" by the township, was funded through a $75,000 grant issued in 2022 through the "Perk your Park" initiative by the National Recreation and Parks Association.

According to the release, The Lookout will allow individuals to sit and watch a number of bird species as well as other creatures without disturbing the creatures' habitat.
