A Dec. 19 American Heart Association news release announced AHA and St. Luke’s Health has placed a kiosk in The Woodlands Mall to measure blood pressure.

The details

The blood pressure kiosk is located in the family lounge on the upper level of the shopping center, adjacent to the food court and carousel, according to the release.

“The placement of this blood pressure kiosk at The Woodlands Mall is critical to our mission of achieving health equity because it is a touchpoint for providing community education,” said Jim Parisi, president of St. Luke’s Health-The Woodlands, Lakeside and Springwoods Village campuses.

Also of note

With over 10 million visitors each year at the mall, Parisi said the placement of the kiosk will provide a free, reliable resource that allows members of the community to track their blood pressure. According to the AHA, nearly half of American adults have high blood pressure, and about 75% don’t have it controlled, said the release.

With the kiosk, people are encouraged to learn their blood pressure numbers and work with a health care professional to get them into a healthy range to manage the risk of stroke and heart disease.
