Deborah Miner opened Wicked Core in October and has since offered a workout that is high intensity, low impact and effective for all fitness levels.

“I started out for 20 years in the corporate world,” Miner said. “I was looking for something different and a friend told me about a Lagree method studio. I took a class in downtown Houston and fell in love with it.”

Miner said the Lagree method, which is the main concept of the new studio on Rayford Road in the master-planned community of Harmony in Spring, integrates the key elements of resistance and counter-resistance in a sequence that allows for periods of zero gravity at peak muscle contraction.

Participants who take classes at Wicked Core use the Megaformer M3S machine, which strengthens the body, tones and elongates muscles, improves endurance and burns fat during a workout, Miner said.

“The whole class is focused on the core,” Miner said. “It’s a low-impact, high-intensity class, and you can do hundreds of exercises on the machine. We work the slow-twitch muscle fibers and it makes you shake while you work out but it’s stretching and toning your muscles—there’s no bulking.”

Miner said since opening day, the new studio has seen more and more people come in to try out the unique fitness class and express their love of the exercise.

“We’re seeing around 50 people a day,” she said. “It’s a challenge but you get stronger. The 5 a.m. class is full every day. It’s for all fitness levels and people feel better after a class.”

Wicked Core offers a variety of group classes and packages for customers to purchase as part of its opening special. Ten-class packages are available for $175, and a three-month unlimited package is available for $199.

For customers who are new to the Lagree method and using the Megaformer M3S machine, an introductory class package is also available and consists of two classes. Private classes are also offered at the studio as well.

Although Miner opened Wicked Core this fall, she said she is already planning for more Wicked Core locations in the future, especially near residential areas.

“The studio could be only five minutes away from people since they live near here,” Miner said. “Right now we have people coming from The Woodlands and Conroe, too. Everyone loves it and they don’t have to be afraid to try it.”
