Alcaliente, a new Tex-Mex eatery, opened its doors at 18450 I-45 S. in Shenandoah on Labor Day.
Based out of Katy, Alcaliente offers Spanish-inspired breakfast, lunch and dinner items, serving everything from pancakes and omelets to burgers and fajitas.
“Serving breakfast really makes [Alcaliente] unique because very few Mexican restaurants offer breakfast,” Owner Awais Muhammad said. “Our name ‘Alcaliente’ means that a lot of our dishes are spicy and we also use prime ingredients which gives really good flavor to our food—everything is made from scratch.”
The eatery also offers happy hour deals Monday-Friday from 3-7 p.m., such as select appetizers for half the normal price and margaritas for $3.50-$4.
“Over the last two days we’ve already served a lot of families, and we’re hoping to see more diners coming from nearby offices for lunch,” Muhammad said. “We want people to come in and try it and give us feedback so we know what we can work on and what we’re doing well.”
A third Alcaliente location is under construction in downtown Houston, Muhammad said.
