The Howard Hughes Corp. has revealed additional details on the mural being painted at The Woodlands Waterway.

The mural, titled "Flowers," is painted on a 358-foot-by-105-foot wall on the south side of The Woodlands Waterway Square garage and will be one of the largest murals in Texas upon its completion April 9-10, according to a news release from The Howard Hughes Corp.

The project was created by artist Alex Katz and commissioned by The Howard Hughes Corp. This will be the 81st piece of art on display in The Woodlands area, and the first mural, according to The Howard Hughes Corp. officials.

"We are driven by the accessibility of public art, its ability to help shape a community's identity and its powerful role in the placemaking process—and we think an Alex Katz artwork is an outstanding contribution to The Woodlands community," said Jay Cross, president of The Howard Hughes Corp., in a news release.

The public is invited to a celebration for the new mural that will take place as part of a free event the weekend of April 9-10 from noon-4 p.m. at 1 Waterway Square across from The Westin.

Guests can enjoy live music, food carts, the Texas Bubblers with giant bubble demonstrations, a complimentary flower bar to create bouquets, sketch artists, origami lessons and photos from a 360-degree spinning camera. Free memorabilia and a tote bag will be available while supplies last.
