The Woodlands Symphony Orchestra and The Woodlands Area Youth Symphony will host auditions on Aug. 20 for community members and students to get involved with the groups.

According to a July 30 release, the symphonies said the auditions are being held as they begin their next season of performances. Audition requirements for WSO include a solo with contrasting styles as well as sight reading from standard literature. According to their website, the group is looking for all major, minor and chromatic styles.

WAYS is also holding auditions for students in grades 7-12. Students are asked to send in an application, $25 fee and a recording. Students who wish to be a part of WAYS must also be involved in their school’s band or orchestra program, if able.

Auditions will be held on Aug. 20 from 4-8 p.m. at Lone Star College-Montgomery, located at 3200 College Park Drive, Conroe. Those who are interested can start their applications at www.woodlandssymphony.org to start filling out the necessary forms.
