The Greater Houston area boasts a variety of events, ranging from festivals to art markets, this weekend.

Dec. 3: Tamale Festival Houston

The festival offers music, a variety of tamales from different Latino cultures, Texas barbecue, food trucks and fairground food. Live music includes performances from Metalachi, a heavy metal mariachi band, a Van Halen tribute band and Los Guerreros de la Musica, a Latin rock band.

Dec. 3: Elder Street Art Market

This annual market offers art, handmade goods, food and music and benefits Advent Conspiracy and Living Water International.

Dec. 3: Trees and Stars Winter Celebration

Hosted by the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center, this celebration will include light bites and drinks in the Arboretum’s forest as well as a night hike to the meadow deck where guest will view stars through telescopes brought by the Houston Astronomical Society. Comfortable shoes should be worn, and the event takes place rain or shine.

Dec. 3: Downtown Ugly Christmas Sweater Pub Crawl

The pub crawl includes 12 bars, and the first 150 people who buy tickets receive a free shirt, backpack, 16-ounce cup and wristband. Beer, shots and drink specials will be $3. Bars include The Moonshiners Southern Table + Bar, Conservatory and Dean’s Downtown. Check-in will be at Christian’s Tailgate Bar & Grill Downtown.

Dec. 4: 19th Annual Parade of Lights

Hosted by the Texas Volunteer Firefighters Relief Fund, this fundraising parade of lights will include Santa Claus, floats and a variety of holiday lights for visitors to enjoy. The parade route will start at Bear Creek United Methodist Church and end at Cypress Falls High School.
