The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion will host the 21st annual Children’s Festival Saturday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 13 from noon-5 p.m. Presented by ExxonMobil, this year’s theme is “Larger Than Life.” Here is a guide to activities, games and performances that will be featured at the festival next weekend.
What to expect at the 2016 Children’s Festival
- Emmy-winning Disney Junior rock band Imagination Movers will perform Saturday and Sunday.
- An interactive Dinosaur Zoo Live performance will take place Saturday only.
- In the SEAD Zone (Science, Engineering, Arts and Design) children can make hats and get their faces painted.
- A meet and greet tent will be set up where people can meet the Imagination Movers and Star Wars characters at various times throughout Saturday and Sunday.
- Local businesses will be set up with hands-on activities and games in the activity center, located in the pavilion’s Event Center.
- The CB&I STEAM Zone (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math), along with Memorial Hermann and Fidelity Investments will have free balloons, science experiments and performances.
- Anadarko’s Adventure Zone will include a petting zoo and inflatable play structures.
- In the Texas Children’s Hospital Healthy KidZone, children can explore an ambulance and participate in martial arts and gymnastics.
- Children can build and fly their own kite, dig for gold and participate in parachute races in The Sky Zone at the top of the pavilion’s hill.
What to know before you go
- Admission is $8 admission in advance, $10 at the gate. Children ages 2 and younger get in free.
- Tickets can be purchased in advance online at www.ticketmaster.com, by calling 800-745-3000 or at the box office Mon.-Fri. 8 a.m.-5 p.m. The box office temporarily reopens Nov. 7 for festival tickets.
- Picnics are welcome, but no outside beverages are allowed on the premises. Concession stands will be open.
- Preferred parking is available for $10 per vehicle in the on-site Town Center Garage on Six Pines Drive. Free parking is available in all five lots on the southwest side of the pavilion accessible from Timberloch Drive.
