Houston residents will experience a taste of New York City during the 12th annual Wine & Food Week, which uncorks in The Woodlands on June 6.

Presented by Food & Vine Time Productions, Wine & Food Week is a seven-day extravaganza that is considered to be the largest and most comprehensive culinary and wine event from New Orleans to Aspen, Colorado. This year’s event theme is “New York State of Mind.” The event draws an average crowd of approximately 11,000 patrons to The Woodlands each year.

“[Wine & Food Week] sells out the Marriott and multiple hotels around the area,” said Constance McDerby, Food & Vine Time Productions founder. “It brings people to the event who stay in The Woodlands, eat at the restaurants and shop at the stores, so it has a tremendous economic impact for the area.”

It will feature annual favorites like H-E-B Wine Walk at Market Street and It’s a Guy Thing along with new events like Women, Wine and All Things Fashionable. The weeklong event features more than 500 wines and food from 75 restaurants.

“Wine & Food Week takes pride in featuring the best of the best to all levels of food and wine lovers,” McDerby said.

Wine & Food Week will also serve as the premiere of The Extraordinary Italian Taste campaign in the U.S. The campaign will present “Ladies of the Vine Tasting, Luncheon and Panel Discussion,” during which guests will indulge in Italian food, wine and goods.

The event will also honor Houston restaurateur Tony Vallone as the 2016 Hall of Fame inductee and Houston native and New York-based Chef Tristen Epps as the 2016 Wizard Gourmet.

Not only does Wine & Food Week entice thousands of patrons to visit The Woodlands, but the production also gives back to charity partners in the community. Over the past decade, Food & Vine Time Productions has raised more than $800,000 for local charities.

This year, proceeds from auctions during Wine & Food Week will go directly to New Danville, an adult educational organization, and The John Cooper School Signature Author Series.

“It’s a great way to tip a glass, share a laugh, make a new friend and support a cause while enjoying the finer things in life,” McDerby said. “It’s sort of like a party with a purpose.”
