Missouri City’s La Quinta Drive is getting an overhaul following poor scores in the city’s 2020 pavement condition index assessment.

The road scored from 0-12 out of 100 possible points on the PCI assessment, said Joi Johnson, Missouri City’s interim director of public works.

What residents need to know

At a Dec. 1 meeting, Missouri City City Council unanimously approved a $649,811 design contract with HDR Engineering Inc. to redesign the road from Oak Point Boulevard to Deerwood Lane.

The approximately 1.1-mile reconstruction, which is expected to cost $4.3 million, will include street reconstruction as well as storm sewer inlets and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant sidewalks, according to agenda documents.

The road is located in the same community as Quail Valley Golf Club, although Johnson said it was not a factor in deciding to reconstruct it. The golf club has undergone more than $15 million in renovations to enhance course amenities, improve infrastructure, preserve city property and address drainage needs, Community Impact reported.

What’s next

The road’s design process is expected to take up to 14 months, with construction anticipated to begin in the first quarter of 2027, per agenda documents.
