Fort Bend County drivers can expect delays on Hwy. 90A through October as nightly closures begin.

Zooming in

The Texas Department of Transportation announced a nightly closure of Hwy. 90A mainlanes and frontage roads in a Sept. 2 Facebook post. The closures will begin at 9 p.m. Sept. 9 and are expected to end at 5 a.m. Oct. 24.

Each night, TxDOT crews will close the mainlanes and frontage roads for beam placement along eastbound and westbound Hwy. 90A from Cunningham Creek Boulevard to Ellis Creek Boulevard.

“During construction, drivers are advised to follow posted detour signs and have patience and caution as it will be essential to ensure safety as construction progresses,” the post states.

The $46 million project aims to relieve congestion and improve drainage, expediting travel between Sugar Land and the Richmond-Rosenberg areas.

What’s next

The project is anticipated to be completed in mid-2026, allowing drivers to continue through the intersection via the proposed bridge.
