After weeks of southbound and northbound lane closures due to damage from Hurricane Harvey, all lanes on the Grand Parkway at the Stavinoha Bridge over the Brazos River reopened Dec. 16, according to the Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority.

“We still have about two more months of work to do there, but this at least lets us get the road back open,” FBCTRA Chief Operating Officer Mike Stone said. “We wanted the road open before Christmas and before the holidays.”

Grand Parkway northbound lane closures began in late October after it was confirmed that the bridge needed $17 million in repairs to stabilize the northern bank. Stone said construction of a wall to stabilize the bank has been completed, but there are still additional elements of the repair project that have to be completed. The project to repair the bank is expected to be completed by the end of February, according to Stone.
