Abigail’s Place, the nonprofit organization serving displaced single mothers and their families in Fort Bend County by providing emergency housing support, will soon break ground on a new expansion project.

In collaboration with HomeAid Houston, Attack Poverty and Chesmar Homes, Abigail’s Place will break ground July 26 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on two 1,000-square-foot duplexes that will provide transitional living for mothers and their children in crisis situations, according to a July 21 news release. The address for the new duplexes has been omitted for the safety and privacy of the families.

Attack Poverty, an organization empowering people to attack poverty in their life by strengthening underresourced communities, sold land to Abigail’s Place for the new construction and will assist in providing resources for the new families, while Chesmar Homes’s Jeff Johnson is leading construction on the project, according to the news release.

“Teaming with Chesmar on this valuable addition to Abigail’s Place is a huge blessing for both the charities, the families it will serve and HomeAid Houston,” HomeAid President Nicole Jacob said in the news release. www.abigailsplace.org
