Popjoi, the popcorn stand chain selling a variety of original flavors—including crunchy jalapeno; buffalo and ranch; churro and latte; and maple and bacon—has been open and operating inside the grocery store at 8900 Hwy. 6, Missouri City, since early February, the stand’s owner, Ilan Kluk, confirmed with Community Impact Newspaper.
The location is the first Popjoi shop in the United States after the store chain’s success in Mexico, Kluk said.
Kluk, a sophomore at Texas A&M University and a Missouri City native, opened the stand as an opportunity to open his own business.
“I had to do it where it all started for me in a community that did so much for me,” Kluk wrote in a Facebook message to Community Impact Newspaper. “I feel very lucky to have a business while in college in my hometown, and the people have shown nothing but love.” www.pop-joi.com
