An Amazon fulfillment center opened at 10507 Harlem Road, Richmond, on Oct. 31, the location’s General Manager Evan Luscher said at a Nov. 18 Fort Bend Economic Development Council meeting.

Known as the HOU6 location, the 3.7 million-square-foot building spans five and a half floors and holds an inventory of more than 40 million small- to medium-sized products, Luscher said.

Since opening the fulfillment center, approximately 1,300 employees have been hired—a number Luscher said will grow to 3,000 by the end of the year.

Luscher said the new facility includes state-of-the-art robotics technology that helps Amazon be a safer and more efficient place to work.

“This is the largest building that amazon makes, period,” Luscher said. “And it has the most technology that Amazon does currently today.”
