The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has clarified that under Gov. Greg Abbott's April 17 executive order, career and technical schools can continue in-person instruction for programs that require hands-on learning as long as they follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention public health guidelines.
"Texas State Technical College is welcoming a limited number of students, faculty, and staff back to our 10 campuses on Monday, May 4," the release reads. "These students are being allowed back onto campus because they are studying in programs that require them to complete hands-on lab work in order to finalize their semester."
In order to protect the health and safety of those returning to campus, TSTC said in the release that all students and employees will be required to wear face covering and follow social distancing guidelines.
Additionally, TSTC said it would increase the frequency of cleaning efforts and provide disinfecting products as well as sanitizers throughout the campus.
Students can check if their program will return for in-person instruction here.
