The overview
The $134,750 project—in partnership with international design nonprofit Better Block— aims to transform Brooks Street into a “welcoming, creative and functional area for the community” by installing temporary enhancements to the Brookside Belknap neighborhood.
The project, which will be located on the corner of Brooks and Hwy. 90A, will feature art, seating, greenery and community-driven design, the city announced in a Facebook post.
“The Build Better Blocks project is an incredible opportunity for Sugar Land residents to get hands-on with creative placemaking in our community,” said Sha Davis, Sugar Land civic arts manager. “This is more than just a temporary installation, it’s a chance to shape the future of public space in one of our historic neighborhoods.”
