Additional changes are coming to the La Quinta Golf Course as it undergoes a $5.63 million renovation.

The gist

At a March 3 meeting, Missouri City City Council approved a $746,909 change order with Greenscapes Six LLC to add seven-foot concrete cart path renovations to the La Quinta Golf Course project. The course was constructed in 1970 and is located in the Quail Valley community at 2880 La Quinta Drive, Missouri City.

Additionally, city staff authorized a $261,784 change order for an irrigation valve as well as demolition costs for the halfway house and existing cart paths, according to agenda documents.

Zooming in

The renovations aim to enhance course playability and aesthetics, while also addressing drainage issues, city officials previously said. The project will regrade and reshape all 18 holes including installing new green, fairways and bunkers as well as:
  • Add drainage improvements, such as detention storage
  • Remove and replant trees
  • Replace irrigation
Project funds for the course rebuild are a part of the city’s November 2021 voter-approved bond that funded $85.85 million in projects. Meanwhile, the city will use Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County mobility funds for the cart paths, according to agenda documents.

Additionally, the city is working with other entities, including the Quail Valley Utility District, to see if the district can contribute to the cart path funding, per agenda documents.

What’s next?

Golf course construction began in January and is expected to wrap up in June, although the course won’t open to the public until December or January due to grass grow-in time, Public Works Director Shashi Kumar previously said.
