What residents need to know
Sugar Land’s Civic Arts Division has announced its “The Art of Reading” campaign, bringing little libraries throughout the community. The campaign aims to foster literacy and enhance community aesthetics through artwork, according to a Dec. 19 news release from the city.
The libraries were completed by local artists Micah Salinas, Premo, W3r3on3, Ohnohedent and Wade Indeed, according to the release.

Residents are encouraged to visit libraries for free reading opportunities and also offers opportunities for readers to recycle books by placing them in the libraries for others to read, according to the release.
The libraries will be unveiled from through Feb. 7 with locations including:
- Dulles High School
- Brazos River Park
- Clements High School
- Kempner High School
- Stadium Drive roundabout
In addition to the libraries, each artist has also created a video component, which shares more about their work, the design process and art lessons, according to the release.

“The ‘Reading is Art’ little libraries are a wonderful way to give our residents access to both visual and literary art in a meaningful and tangible way,” Sha Davis, civic arts manager for Sugar Land, said in the release. “This campaign is a celebration of creativity, storytelling and the power of sharing—something we are truly excited to bring to Sugar Land.”
