The gist
The agreement will add a practice at Pinnacle Senior Center, located at 5525 Hobby St., Ste. C, Houston, which will help provide health care services to the area.
The center provides programs and activities for senior citizens including workout classes, board games and a community pool, Precinct 2 commissioner Grady Prestage said. AccessHealth is a Federally Qualified Health Center that focuses on providing health care for low-income individuals through countywide clinics, including locations in Missouri City and Brookshire, according to its website.
“We have a longstanding agreement with AccessHealth to provide primary care for our indigent population since we don’t have a county clinic that does that,” Prestage said. “We can provide the brick and mortar and they provide the program.”

The backstory
The medical space in the Pinnacle Senior Center was originally used for a needs-based dental program in partnership with the city of Houston. However, Prestage said the program never took off due to the ineligibility of the center’s members.
Looking ahead
The lease agreement began Dec. 1 and services will begin at the center as soon as setup is complete, Prestage said. An exact date was not available as of press time. The lease is set to expire on Nov. 30 and will automatically renew annually through 2034, although Prestage said there are opportunities to expand the contract.
