The filing period for those seeking to run in the November election for Missouri City City Council opens Saturday, July 18, and the city will begin accepting applications the next business day, Monday, July 20.

Interested applicants have until Aug. 17 to file for a place on the ballot. Applicants can file to run for mayor or for one of the two at-large City Council positions.

The application, election packet and additional information can be found on Missouri City’s election website.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which has closed the City Hall lobby, candidates are asked to do one of the following when submitting their application.

After doing so, filers are asked to call the city secretary’s office at 281-403-8687, 281-403-8686 or 281-403-8689 so that a city staff member can come pick up the application. Items will only be collected from the drop box between 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
  2. Send the application by mail to the city secretary. Applications are considered filed once the city secretary has received them. Filers are asked to address applications to: City Secretary’s Office, 1522 Texas Parkway, Missouri City, TX 77489.
  3. Fax the application to 281-403-8699.
The City Council election will take place Nov. 3. Also on the Missouri City ballot this November will be a proposition regarding the adoption of the firefighters’ and police officers’ civil service law.
