What you need to know
Polls in Fort Bend County are open 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on Nov. 5. Voters can cast their ballot at any of the 83 voting centers countywide, according to the county website. Voters who are in line at 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote; voters who arrive at the polling location after 7 p.m. won't be allowed to vote, per state law.
Some local voting centers include:
- Sugar Land City Hall
- River Park Recreation Center
- Stafford City Hall
- Missouri City Visitors Center
- Hightower High School
According to the Texas Secretary of State office, Texans must present one of seven forms of photo identification to vote:
- A Texas driver’s license
- A Texas personal ID card
- A Texas election ID certificate
- A Texas handgun license
- A U.S. military ID with photo
- A U.S. citizenship certificate with photo
- A U.S. passport
A closer look
In the 12 days of early voting Oct. 21-Nov. 1, over 53% of registered voters in Fort Bend County cast their ballots. This falls short of the 62% of voters who cast ballots in the last presidential election in November 2020, which had a longer early voting period due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
