The candidate filing deadline for the November general election closed Aug. 19, and numerous applicants filed for positions in the Sugar Land and Missouri City areas.

In addition to presidential, federal and statewide candidates, voters will have a chance to weigh in on county-level positions on the ballot Nov. 5.

What's next

To participate in the elections, residents must register to vote by Monday, Oct. 7. Early voting will be held Oct. 21-Nov. 1, according to the SOS website. Election Day is Nov. 5.
