Why did you choose to run for the Sugar Land City Council District 1 position?

This district is my home. My children and grandkids, who all live in the district, have benefitted immensely from all the district offers. As a leader in my local community, I want to ensure all residents have a seat at the table and reap the benefits of Sugar Land’s progress.

What is your top priority if elected to represent the citizens of Sugar Land?

My top priority will be to encourage safety and sustainable growth. I will ensure Sugar Land maintains its reputation as a safe city through coordination with law enforcement and local residents. Additionally, development and growth is beneficial but needs to keep the convenience and well-being of residents in mind.

What do you think is the most pressing issue for local residents, and what will you do to address it?

Increased traffic is [the] most pressing issue, particularly on Eldridge [Road] and West Airport [Boulevard]. Residents constantly deal with massive congestion to get into their neighborhoods or during school pickup. I will work with the city, schools, traffic control and local businesses to alleviate this issue and improve the day-to-day lives of residents.

What are your thoughts on the city’s efforts to encourage redevelopment of older city areas?

The residents who have been here for generations deserve [the] resources of the community, just as much as other parts of the city. These community members give Sugar Land its heart. I applaud the city’s efforts with these communities and will champion this issue by utilizing my business and organizational experience.

Why are you rerunning for Sugar Land City Council District 1 position?

After visiting with every constituent who reached out to me since my election, I'm dedicated to preserving the progress we’ve achieved during my first term. Together, we've reached significant milestones and built trust. It's imperative to build upon this foundation of experience and trust, continuing to work together toward success.

What is your top priority if elected to represent the citizens of Sugar Land?

My constituents remain my top priority. I'm committed to addressing their needs while advancing city priorities, including public safety, infrastructure, mobility and redevelopment. Remaining engaged with constituents and informed with city issues while swiftly navigating processes to tackle these concerns is my primary focus.

What do you think is the most pressing issue for local residents, and what will you do to address it?

Focusing on a single issue neglects the multifaceted responsibilities of a council member; challenges evolve daily. I must be ready to tackle all concerns. All constituent issues are urgent, regardless of the scope. I must possess the expertise and resources helping find solutions, regardless of the nature of the problem.

What are your thoughts on the city’s efforts to encourage redevelopment of older city areas?

Redevelopment is crucial for our city's ongoing growth and prosperity, securing our vitality for the future. It requires foresight, responsible, detailed planning and transparency throughout. Involving residents and stakeholders is key to shaping spaces benefiting everyone. I believe progress relies on open communication, accessibility and embracing feedback for continuous improvement.
