Why are you running for mayor?

I am running for re-election to complete my campaign promises and to help move my city forward.

What do you consider to be the top priority for Missouri City?

My top priority is always to care for the well-being of our citizens. Top-notch public safety (fire and police) cannot be stressed enough.

What do you think are the biggest needs for Missouri City, and how do you plan to address these needs?

Public safety (police and fire): we must continue to seek out the best law enforcement and fire department employees. We must ensure that these employees are well-paid and well-trained. We recently approved the construction of Fire Station [No.] 6, and we will be hiring 12 new firefighters to serve the residents. Texas Parkway/Cartwright Corridor Revitalization: with the support of council, in 2021, I was able to establish the Texas Parkway/Cartwright Road Corridor Development Advisory Committee. They have exceeded my expectations. The committee has worked diligently to propose and evaluate programs and projects that will move this corridor forward by attracting and retaining quality businesses.

Why are you running for mayor?

Presently, Missouri City has less than 15% of undeveloped land available; it collects 40% of its revenue from residential property taxes; and it has an understaffed and underpaid public safety department. With my experience and education, I bring a specific skillset and knowledge base that can assist towards addressing the need of sustainable development, lowering the tax burden on residents and providing guidance to improve pay and staffing conditions for public safety.

What do you consider to be the top priority for Missouri City?

Missouri City has several key executive management and nonmanagement positions (City Manager, Economic Development Director, Communications Director, various city and public safety staff) that are currently vacant. I believe the top priority is providing resources and guidance to staff so that they are able to fill these high-priority positions.

What do you think are the biggest needs for Missouri City, and how do you plan to address these needs?

The biggest need is to identify a well-rounded city manager who is an innovative leader, budget guru and who has a comprehensive understanding of development. Beyond addressing budgetary and staff deficiencies, he/she should be immediately tasked with guiding staff on updating the 2017 Comprehensive Plan. This plan should be updated every five years, and it is the roadmap to where citizens would like to see their community as they look forward into the future.
