Incumbent state Rep. Ron Reynolds, D-Missouri City, has won the Democratic primary election for Texas House District 27, according to unofficial election day voting results. Tom Virippan is the winner of the Republican primary.

With 96.3% of precincts reporting, Reynolds received 66.25%, or 14,200 votes; while the other Democrat in the race, Byron Ross received 33.75%, or 7,233 votes.

Virippan finished with 54.11%, or 3,781 votes; while Republican Manish Seth finished with 45.89%, or 3,207 votes, with 100% of precincts reporting.



Reynolds and Virippan will be on the Nov. 3 general election ballot.

District 27 covers most of Missouri City and Stafford as well as a small section of Sugar Land.

After the first batch of election day results, incumbent state Rep. Ron Reynolds still leads in the Democratic primary for Texas House District 27. Tom Virippan has a narrow lead in the Republican contest.

Reynolds has received 67.22%, or 7,675 votes, with 75.93% of precincts reporting. His Democratic challenger Byron Ross has received 32.78%, or 3,743 votes.

Virippan has earned 53.78%, or 2,567 votes, with 42.59% of precincts reporting. The other Republican in the race, Manish Seth, has received the other 46.22%, or 2,206 votes.

Incumbent state Rep. Ron Reynolds, D-Missouri City, is leading in the Democratic primary for Texas House District 27 after early voting, while Tom Virippan is leading in the Republican contest.

District 27 includes most of Missouri City and Stafford as well as a sliver of Sugar Land. Reynolds was first elected to the Texas House in 2010.

Reynolds garnered 67.41%, or 7,497, of early votes, while his challenger Byron Ross received 32.59%, or 3,624, of early votes.


In the Republican primary, Tom Virippan received 54.27%, or 2,534, of early votes, and Manish Seth received 45.73%, or 2,135, of early votes.

The winner of the Democratic and Republican primary will face off in the general election in November.
