The board of trustees unanimously approved the 2023-24 instructional calendar during its Feb. 13 meeting.
The 2023-24 school year will begin Aug. 9. The holiday break will start with an early release Dec. 15, and students will return to school Jan. 4. Students will have March 11-15 off for spring break and finish the school year May 23.
The district’s calendar committee opened a survey to the public in early January, where stakeholders could view three draft calendars and provide feedback.
While the district has a diversity calendar that notes a number of religious and cultural observances, several board members advocated during the meeting for a more inclusive instructional calendar.
“We need to continue to strive to meet the diversity of our community the best we can, and hopefully in next year’s calendar, maybe we can address a couple of different days,” board member Angie Hanan said.
