Fort Bend ISD will not be having any after-school activities Feb. 3.
The district canceled after-school activities due to forecasted weather conditions that are expected to worsen during the late afternoon and evening hours, potentially causing hazardous road conditions, according to a Feb. 2 announcement. This includes all extended day programs and University Interscholastic League-sanctioned events.
The announcement comes ahead of cold weather that is expected to bring temperatures in the low 20s with wind chills in the teens Feb. 3 and Feb. 4, according to the National Weather Service.
According to the district, Fort Bend ISD is continuing to monitor the weather and consult local meteorological and emergency management officials and will provide any further updates as needed.
