A new candidate has entered his name to run for a position on Fort Bend ISD’s board of trustees.

David Hamilton, who has called Fort Bend County home for over a decade with his wife, is running for the school board position for the upcoming May 7 election coming from a family of educators with two parents who are retired teachers, Hamilton said in a Jan. 25 news release.

“Parents, teachers, administrators, and most importantly students are key stakeholders who deserve resources to help all students achieve success,” Hamilton said in the release. “However, there comes a time when even resources don’t meet the challenges of many students in our district.”

As part of his campaign, Hamilton is recommending a more collaborative approach with the community, businesses and parents to best ensure the future success of FBISD students.

Hamilton has two children enrolled in FBISD. He has previous experience in banking and oil and gas and works in commercial insurance.

Hamilton’s announcement comes after Jim Rice and Rick Garcia announced their own candidacies for Position 3 on the board.

The filing period for candidates seeking a seat on the board will span Jan. 19-Feb. 18.
