Supply chain and logistics technology refers to the processes and plans of moving products, materials or services from a point of origin to a point of consumption, said Margaret Kidd, instructional assistant professor at the University of Houston-Sugar Land.

“Our program’s unique,” Kidd said. “We have a practicum course, which is a capstone experience that all students have to take. They’ll have a team that they put together from class, and they partner with a company to resolve some sort of business problem.”

The program also connects students with companies and organizations for internships, jobs, scholarships and networking opportunities, she said.

“University of Houston is a Tier One university,” Kidd said. “Industry [professionals] come to us. If you’re looking for a job, you want to be in a program where the faculty are working with industry.”
