Family-owned eatery Swamp Chicken held a soft opening Jan. 14 at 8035 Hwy. 6, Missouri City.

Since the soft opening, the business has worked limited hours with a reduced menu; however, it will extend its hours and offer the full menu upon its grand opening celebration Feb. 3, owner Terrie Mason said in an email.

The family, who is from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, offers authentic Cajun food at the eatery as well as brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Menu items include boudin stuffed wings, swamp tacos, chicken and waffles, shrimp, crawfish etouffee, and the Our Truth Sandwich—a fried chicken breast tossed in the eatery's "swamp" seasoning blend, served on a Hawaiian bun with pepper jack cheese, jalapenos and "boom boom sauce."

The business had a Richmond location but has relocated to Missouri City to serve a more diverse community, Mason said.
