The Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce held an event Feb. 13 with development leaders sharing insight on the future of the county’s landscape.
“The people, the demographics, the numbers are reasons for investing in large master-planned communities in Fort Bend County,” said Jeff DeWese, senior vice president for the land division of The Signorelli Co. “We want to be a part of [the growth].”
1. Lake Pointe redevelopment
Project: Lake Pointe Plaza is a mixed-use development bringing dining, shopping and recreation to Sugar Land, Planned Community Developers President Don Janssen said.
Update: Construction is scheduled to begin after June 30 and is anticipated to be completed in late 2025, Janssen said.
- Location: intersection of I-69 and Hwy. 6
- Timeline: summer 2024-late 2025
- Size: 69 acres
Project: Indigo will be a 750-home community in Richmond with agriculture, retail businesses and recreational activities, according to Community Impact’s previous reporting.
Update: Model homes will be available in April, with the project expected to be completed in 2026, said Clayton Garrett, founding partner of Meristem Communities, the project’s developer.

- Size: 235 acres
Project: Austin Point is a master-planned community in Rosenberg from The Signorelli Co., expected to have over 14,000 single- and multifamily homes, according to Community Impact’s previous reporting.
Update: Phase 1 commenced in late 2023, with detention digging set to begin in March, DeWese said. Initial land will be distributed to homebuilders in early 2025, followed by model home construction in summer 2025. The development is set to be fully completed in the next 30-35 years.

- Size: 4,700 acres
Project: Imperial Retreat Townhomes is a townhome community from Owais Development consisting of 54-unit single-story and 43-unit double-story townhomes.
Update: The development is set to break ground this summer and be completed by the end of 2025, said Mukhtar Owais, managing partner of Owais Developments.
