As of Jan. 18, 115,870 Fort Bend County residents are confirmed to have tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

In a one-week period from Jan. 11-18, the number of confirmed cases increased by 3.5%, up from 111,895 cases reported Jan. 11, according to a COVID-19 data dashboard from Fort Bend County Health & Human Services. That compares to the 14% increase in cases the county reported the week prior.

Only positive results using molecular tests count toward the county’s total COVID-19 cases. Of those total confirmed cases, an additional 17,455 Fort Bend County residents have tested positive using antigen tests and 5,061 with antibody tests, according to the county’s data.

The county estimates that 92,213 people have recovered from the coronavirus as of Jan. 18. Estimated deaths, meanwhile, are 1,080.

Hospitalizations


Out of the approximately 957 operational general hospital beds available in Fort Bend County, 564 of those are in use as of Jan. 18, according to data from the Southeast Texas Regional Advisory Council, which tracks hospitalization data for Fort Bend County. Out of those beds in use, 181 of those are suspected or confirmed of being used by COVID-19 patients, according to the SETRAC data.

Intensive care unit usage, meanwhile, hovers around 117 beds. As of Jan. 18, 32 suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients are utilizing those beds. For comparison, SETRAC reported highs of 48 coronavirus patients in the ICU on Aug. 26 and 53 coronavirus patients on Jan. 19, 2021.

Vaccinations

There have been 1.15 million total COVID-19 vaccine doses administered to Fort Bend County by all providers as of Jan. 18, according to Fort Bend County’s data dashboard.


Of that number, 482,332 residents are fully vaccinated; 153,298 residents have received an additional or booster dose; and 68,682 residents are partially vaccinated, having received a single dose of a two-series vaccine.

Approximately 73% of Fort Bend County residents age 5 and older have received at least one dose and 94% of those ages 65 and older.
