The 45 new coronavirus cases reported by the Fort Bend County Health and Human Services Department on May 7 bring the total case count for the county to 1,332, according to the county’s Community Impact Dashboard.

Of the total cases, there are 1,086 active cases. While the majority of these people are at home, 46 people in the county who have tested positive for the virus are hospitalized.

The county is reporting that 213 Fort Bend County residents have recovered and are clear of infection, while 33 have died.

On his Facebook page, County Judge KP George wrote the one new death was a man in his 60s who had an underlying health condition.

Of the cases reported May 7, 25 are located in unincorporated Fort Bend County; five are in Missouri City; and three are in Sugar Land. Rosenberg and Richmond had six and four new cases, respectively.




Richmond ZIP code 77469 saw 21 new cases. Together, ZIP codes 77498, 77479, 77478, 77489 and 77459—which make up most of the Sugar Land and Missouri City communities—saw a total of 10 new cases.


To date, the county has performed 4,815 coronavirus tests at its three no-cost testing locations. On May 7, the county announced two additional testing sites—one at the Gallery Furniture store in Richmond and the other at Katy ISD’s Seven Lakes High School—will open May 8.
