Missouri City partnered with Sienna at 6 Veterinary Hospital to offer a special incentive for pet owners to microchip their animals for Lost Pet Prevention Month this July.

What’s happening

Throughout July, cats and dogs can be microchipped for $20 through the new Missouri City incentive program. The initiative aims to promote pet safety and ensure furry friends are more easily identified and reunited with their owners in case they get lost.

Located at 8790 Hwy. 6, Ste. 100, Missouri City, Sienna at 6 Veterinary Hospital encourages pet owners to take advantage of this affordable and accessible microchipping opportunity with no appointments necessary. Walk-ins will be accepted throughout July, according to a Missouri City social media post.

What is microchipping?

Microchipping involves the painless implantation of a small chip roughly the size of a grain of rice beneath a pet's skin. Each chip carries a unique identification number that can be scanned by shelters and veterinary clinics, according to the release.

When a lost animal is brought to a shelter or veterinary clinic, one of the first steps taken is to scan for a microchip. If a microchip is found and the associated registry contains accurate information, it greatly increases the chances of quickly locating the pet's owner.

Get involved

This collaborative effort between the city and Sienna at 6 Veterinary Hospital emphasizes the importance of responsible pet ownership and the need to protect our furry companions.
