Fort Bend County Judge KP George appointed assistant county engineer Stacy Slawinski as interim county engineer Feb. 26.

The appointment comes after recent changes made to the leadership at the Office of Emergency Management and the restructuring of the fire marshal’s office under the OEM, both of which are fueled by George’s vision for the county’s government.

Mark Flathouse was approved by the Fort Bend Commissioners Court on Feb. 12 as the emergency manager/fire marshal and serves as chief administrator of the Fort Bend County OEM.

Slawinski has 24 years of experience managing multimillion-dollar capital projects across the Greater Houston area, according to a press release from the county. The engineering department provides comprehensive planning, design, mapping and management services to facilitate quality construction of private development, public roads and public infrastructure to enhance public safety and quality of life in the county.

“By appointing Mr. Slawinski to his respective role, Fort Bend County engineering will strive to be one of the best departments of their kind in the country,” George said in the release. “He brings a diverse set of experiences and excitement to grow the department with new ideas and, most importantly, serve Fort Bend County residents at the highest possible level.”

Slawinski will replace former county engineer Richard Stolleis, who was hired in April 2012 for the role. The engineering department employs 39 staff members, according to Xavier Herrera, director of communications for the county judge.
