The development of two side-by-side gated senior living communities on Texas Parkway in Missouri City is progressing as construction for both is set to begin in the third quarter of 2018, according to a presentation given at Monday’s Missouri City City Council meeting.

The projects are led by Gardner Capital Development Company and have been in the works since City Council gave approval in early 2017, said Jervon Harris, senior vice president of development for Gardner Capital. The communities—Gala at Texas Parkway and Jubilee at Texas Parkway—will each span 6-7.5 acres.

“All in all, we’re looking at about a $36 million investment between the two properties,” Harris said. “They both are averaging right about $18 million each.”

Units will be available for rent to those aged 55 years and older, he said. Rates will vary based upon the prospective resident’s income. Featured amenities include wellness centers, beauty salons, resort-style pools, gardens and walking space.

“Both properties will be built simultaneously,” Harris said. “It’ll be a roughly 12-month construction period.”

Several city council members expressed their support for the project and its progress.

“People hear about things that’s going to happen on Texas Parkway,” Council member Jerry Wyatt said. “I know people are looking forward to it.”

The communities will be located at 3222 Texas Parkway, Missouri City.
