Landscape architecture firm TGB Partners proposed placing signs at select intersections in Missouri City to better define city limits and display messages. The firm also suggested planting trees and shrubbery to enhance the Texas Parkway corridor during a City Council special meeting session Monday. TGB Partners Principal Meade Mitchell said City Council should consider placing reader signs capable of displaying electronic messages on the northeast side of the city at the intersection of Independence Boulevard and Fondren Road. Other possible locations for reader signs include Texas Parkway along the eastern city limit near the Fort Bend Parkway Toll Road and at the intersection of Independence Boulevard and FM 1092. The community may also benefit from installing curved walls and monument towers displaying the city's name and logo throughout the community at locations such as the intersection of Hwy. 6 and Dulles Avenue, Meade said. One concern is maintaining a consistent design for the city's branding, according to council members. "I think there was some discussion on social media about the lettering being different in one area of town versus other areas of town," Council Member Jeffrey Boney said. Staff will have another presentation to City Council at a later date regarding final designs, and council members will have final say on that decision, said Cory Stottlemyer, Missouri City's media relations specialist. "Identity is about consistency," Council Member Jerry Wyatt said. "If we want to create an identity, we have to be consistent."
