Rugby teams the Houston SaberCats and the Seattle Saracens play their first pre-season game 7 p.m. Saturday at Constellation Field in Sugar Land, allowing fans to enjoy tailgate activities and live music beforehand.

The SaberCats, formerly the Houston Strikers, join six other teams in the newly formed Major League Ruby, which kicks off its inaugural season April 21, according to a Thursday press release. Other teams include Austin Elite Rugby, NOLA Gold, Utah Warriors, Glendale Raptors, San Diego Legion and Seattle Seawolves.

Leading up to April, the SaberCats will participate in a three-month exhibition season during which they will play against teams from other U.S. cities, Canada and Uruguay, according to the team’s official website. The SaberCats will spend its exhibition season in Constellation Field as plans to construct a new, separate stadium for the rugby team moves forward.
