Outdoor retailer Gander Mountain announced today it will close its Sugar Land store along with 31 other locations around the country as part of a corporate restructuring.

Jess Myers, a representative of Ewald Consulting, which issued a statement announcing the closures, said no date is set for the Sugar Land store’s last day.

Gander Mountain did not specify the number of employees at the Sugar Land store, but the release states that most stores have 20 to 30 full time employees.

The outdoor sports equipment seller also filed for bankruptcy protection today in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Minnesota, according to the release.

The downsizing comes as a number of nationwide retail chains are reducing their number of locations and focusing resources on those stores that produce the highest profits.

Gander Mountain “experienced challenging traffic patterns and shifts in consumer demand resulting from increased direct-to-customer sales by key vendors and accelerated growth of e-commerce,” according to the release.

The Sugar Land location is at 19890 Hwy. 59 in the River Park Shopping Center off Hwy. 99.
