County and city leaders are gathering in the first half of the week for a variety of agenda items. See what's on the schedule for residents to keep in mind:

Monday

Fort Bend Parkway Overpass ribbon cutting
At 10 a.m. the Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority will host a ribbon cutting for the long-awaited overpass that spans from Trammel Fresno Road to Sienna Parkway. The $30.9 million roadway is expected to help the flow of traffic in and out of Sienna Plantation in Missouri City.

The overpass was under construction for nearly two years and has two lanes each going north- and southbound, according to FBCTRA Chief Operating Officer Mike Stone.

Fort Bend ISD board to meet, host listening tour
The FBISD Board of Trustees is expected to review the calendar for the 2017-18 school year. The board had held off approving a calendar in order to consider the state requirement of at least 75,600 minutes of instruction, as well as any recommendations from the district's innovation committee.

The committee crafted a plan for FBISD to become a district of innovation, which, if approved by the board, could allow the district to be exempt from certain calendar-related mandates. Monday's meeting will be held at at Travis High School, 11111 Harlem Road, Richmond, in conjunction with a stop on the district's Listening Tour for parents and community members.

Missouri City City Council meeting
The council meets at 6 p.m. for a special agenda meeting and at 7 p.m. for the regular agenda meeting, both at City Hall, 1522 Texas Parkway. During the special meeting, council are expected to discuss the next round of improvements to be made to the community center. The building underwent remodeling last year.

Council members will also consider authorizations to dedicate parkland in the proposed Dry Creek Village and Mustang Trails subdivisions. In Dry Creek Village, a developer is proposing a 50 percent private parkland dedication, in the form of trails, and a $287,000 cash payment in lieu of parkland.

In Mustang Trails, a developer is proposing 0.577 acres of private parkland and $236,600 as cash in lieu of parkland. Both developments are located in city park zones and the Missouri City Planning and Zoning Commission are recommending their proposals, according to city documents.

Tuesday

Sugar Land City Council
Council members will hear 2016 annual reports from city police and fire departments, as well as give a special recognition to city police officers Arif Vadsaria and Brittany Moreno. The council will also review joint resolutions crafted with Fort Bend ISD to lobby state lawmakers for common agendas.
The two bodies met Feb. 13 to discuss their shared disapproval of the Texas Education Agency's preliminary A-F school ratings system. Development proposals and a workshop on the upcoming Fort Bend County mobility bond are also on Tuesday's meeting agenda.
